How long have you been at Virtuos?

It will soon be 4 years, I’ve been here since almost the beginning and was the 20th employee to join the company!

What do you enjoy in your work at Virtuos?

It’s full of opportunities. I started doing simple things, and gradually moved to more complicated, but also more interesting tasks. It went step by step so I could learn more and thoroughly. I particularly appreciate one of our 3 corporate values: Trust. At Virtuos, there are easy interpersonal relationships, good atmosphere, and I work well with my manager and my colleagues. The management really respects my attitude, my value, and I can see my own growth within the company, progressively.

What involvement have you had in recruiting?

I am not invovled in recruiting, however I actually happen to give some trainings to new staffs in our team at the begining of some projects. I get opportunities to communicate with my new co-workers, introduce Virtuos to them, and as well as the software tools. I am very happy to see all of us get on and grow together as a whole team!

How frequently do you learn new things at your current job?

Everyday! Skills and techniques in 3D game art production evolve very quickly. I am constantly aware that there are a lot of new things to learn and that it is never enough. For instance, when I started at Virtuos, I could only use Max and Photoshop. Now, I’m familiar with most major software and tools used in 3D Art: Maya, XSI, ZBrush, rendering plug-ins such as Brasil, etc. More generally speaking, now I also have higher abilities than before when it comes to judge the quality of a piece of art.

How is your career development monitored at Virtuos?

I often have discussions with my Art Director about my career path and what I should undertake to one day become Team Leader. I can feel that Senior Management is really paying attention to the staff and respects our own attitude and aspirations. As I still need more experience, I am often acting as a kind of junior Team Leader: from time to time I can manage a team with a limited number of members. I think this is very helpful for me to improve my professional knowledge as well as my management skills.
