What was your favorite project at Virtuos?
We fully developed a game based on a major Hollywood movie for one of our clients. I worked on this project from scratch till end, thus getting great insights on the whole process of producing a full game. I acquired new knowledge whilst also applying my own experience into this title. Along with the progress of the project, I got more actively involved and took more responsibilities.
Can you describe your career growth at Virtuos?
When I joined Virtuos as a Junior Tester at the end of 05, my main duty was to test mobile games only, and after Virtuos stopped this activity I started testing console titles. Up until early 2007, I started to get entrusted with some management responsibilities. Then, after discussing my career plan with my Team Leader, I was officially promoted Senior Tester, which engages more responsibilities on the technical side but also offers me the opportunity to practice my management skills. Ever since, I have several times been able to lead the whole procedure of major tasks, such as First Party Certification testing.
Does your work give you a sense of personal accomplishment?
Yes. As a tester, I feel very proud when I find out major bugs and manage to isolate the steps to reproduce them. Also, because QA is a unique department really urging team work, my good collaboration with other team members makes me feel successful. Very recently, I was assigned for some testing exclusively for PSP and NDS. After that, I did a presentation before 20 people to explain the procedure and the outcome. The presentation went very well and there were good comments about it, I was very pleased and felt fulfilled.
What do you have to say about company events?
I think these events are great opportunities for us to interact with other teams or departments, and also foster our own team spirit and cooperation. I like the weekly sports events where I enjoy the exercise and more importantly the chance to interact with colleagues from other departments. I also particularly enjoyed the Mid-Autumn dinner or when we all got invited to watch "Transformers" at the movie theatre.
