China Becomes Japan’s Largest Software Outsourcing Base

China has become Japan’s largest overseas software outsourcing base. In 2003, Beijing had US$150 million worth of software outsourcing contracts. The value of software outsourced from Japan is increasing at 50 percent every year. A Beijing Software Promotion Center executive estimated that China needs to add 3,750 Japanese language software engineers this year and that the demand for engineers will grow at 150 percent every year.
