Virtuos’ Chengdu studio expands to over 100 game experts

Shanghai, August 20, 2009 – Virtuos announced today that its Chengdu development center has reached the 100-employee milestone after 18 months in operation. Recent additions to the team include two experienced game developers from the UK – an Art Director and a Lead Game Designer – who bring with them a combined 20 years of experience. Darren Baines was previously at 4J Studios in Scotland and will direct art for codevelopment projects. Simon comes from Zoë Mode and will oversee the game design team.

Virtuos: The Largest, Most International Independent Offshore Game Studio

Steady growth in Shanghai and Chengdu has made Virtuos the largest independent offshore game production studio. Virtuos Chengdu already ranks as one of the most globally experienced studios in China, with seasoned game-industry vets from the Netherlands and Taiwan as well as some of mainland China’s most talented developers. That expertise is backed up by the more than 10 nationalities at Virtuos Shanghai.

Fast-growing Track Record of Success
Since opening in January 2008, Virtuos Chengdu has worked on two codevelopment projects for the Nintendo DS and Leapfrog’s DIDJ platforms, and has contributed 3D art to dozens of AAA game projects on the Xbox 360 and PS3.
