MotorStorm Arctic Edge, co-developed for Sony Playstation 2 by Virtuos

Shanghai, October 20, 2009 – Today marked the release date of MotorStorm Arctic Edge, the latest installment in the blockbuster MotorStorm franchise. MotorStorm Arctic Edge was co-developed for the PlayStation 2 by Virtuos and Bigbig Studios.

The release of MotorStorm Arctic Edge marks the second PS2 game, and the sixth racing game to have been developed by Virtuos. MotorStorm Arctic Edge on PlayStation 2 adds split-screen  functionality to the PSP version, offering players the opportunity to challenge friends locally, with two-player split-screen racing.

MotorStorm Arctic Edge is the third game in the MotorStorm series, and stays true to the signature style developed in the original MotorStorm for PS3. To help capture the essence of the game’s rugged Alaskan environment, Virtuos formed a special development team including a Senior Art Director from France.

“MotorStorm Arctic Edge is a thrilling addition to the multi-million selling titles MotorStorm and MotorStorm® Pacific Rift,” said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President, Product Marketing, SCEA. “The combination of treacherous terrain, unexpected avalanches and collapses, and cutting-edge artificial intelligence definitely leads to shockingly immersive gameplay for the PlayStation 2 player.”
