Outsourcing the number one trend in game development in 2008

Shanghai, December 18, 2008 – Leading game industry website www.gamasutra.com has ranked the continued rise of outsourcing its number one trend in game development in 2008, among a list of “20 trends that have risen to the level that they cannot be ignored“.

According to the article, “Speak to any number of developers these days about asset generation, and the topic of outsourcing is never far from the discussion. Some companies, such as Alex Seropian’s  Wideload Games and American McGee’s Spicy Horse Games, have built their business models around a “core” team, while using contractors for much of the process.

Virtuos is certainly seeing the same trend on the Vendor side as its business has increased significantly in 2008, as demonstrated by its strongest Christmas lineup ever. Current orders point to an even stronger year in 2009.

In September, Virtuos had been featured on Gamasutra.com in a series of articles examining outsourcing.
