Virtuos adopts the Substance tool suite from Allegorithmic

Shanghai, December 1, 2009 – Allegorithmic today announced a partnership with Virtuos, a leadingprovider of digital entertainment offshore production services, that will make Virtuos the latest to adopt Allegorithmic’s Substance technology into their art production pipeline. Virtuos will become the fifth developer in Asia to license Substance, along with NCSoft, The9, T3 Entertainment and Gravity.

Sébastien Deguy, Founder and CEO of Allegorithmic. Substance is the new tool suite from Allegorithmic, which includes Substance Air, the middleware that allows artists to produce micro file size textures, boost productivity and unleash user-generated content.

“The ability to create dynamic textures allows us to dramatically boost our productivity by enabling rapid iteration. We are reaching a point where 3D artists are in need of efficient compositing tools for textures,” says Andrey Supryaga, Senior Art Director at Virtuos.

Virtuos will deploy its Substance-trained artists on current projects, and will also integrate the tool into its next-generation art pipeline. Virtuos will also provide training and support for Substance in the Asia region. “We truly believe that generative technologies such as Substance will become an industry standard in the near future,” says Virtuos CEO Gilles Langourieux. “Our job is to provide the best quality assets while containing production cost, and Substance is helping us fulfill this mission like no other texturing tool.”
