About this Webinar

What is photogrammetry? The technique has existed for centuries, but it wasn’t until recent years that the technology became increasingly popular in video game development.

As PC and console hardware improve, increasingly high resolution textures can be rendered in game engines, thereby allowing game designers to create ever more realistic environments in AAA titles. However, the process of creating these ultra-high quality game assets has similarly increased in time and complexity, especially if the goal is to make them as lifelike as possible. With these rapid advancements, more developers have begun looking into utilizing photogrammetry as a tool in their arsenal.

In this event, hear from experts and industry veterans to learn more about how they apply photogrammetry into games, the dos and don’ts, and how the future of photogrammetry in game development could look like.

This event is the first of a webinar series of Expert Talks organized by Virtuos, aimed at industry professionals and enthusiasts alike to discuss topics revolving around the future of game development. For those interested in photogrammetry, click here to read more about how Sparx* - A Virtuos Studio harnesses photogrammetry to develop realistic worlds in games.

Takeaways:

  • How photogrammetry is applied in games to build realistic-looking worlds
  • Dos and don’ts in photogrammetry
  • How to deal with partial data/capture
  • What the future of photogrammetry looks like in game development
  • Best practices on Unreal Engine 5
